We were able to make the trip out to Nauvoo on Saturday. Lance had never been and we were told the Nauvoo Pageant was absolutely unmissable. Our first stop was Carthage, Illinois, where Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were martyred. It was so surreal to think that we were standing where all these events had taken place, and it was such a hallowed spot. The Church has done such a great job of making this a place where you can feel the spirit, and get a feel for what the last moments of life were like for the Prophet.

Illinois: we thought about cigarette bootlegging, but this sign ruined everything.
Carthage Jail
Pretty sure I look slightly possessed in this picture, but this is the closest thing to a family picture we got all day and I'm so glad someone offered to take it for us so we can remember being there.
