Zoo and Tractors

The other day we went to the Moline Zoo for free day.  It's just a small zoo, but it definitely exceeded all expectations!
One great thing (or scary thing?) about the zoo being small is that you are so close to all the animals.  I felt like this guy could have easily jumped down onto our side of the fence.  Don't even get me started about the lions...mark my words, the lions at this zoo will escape someday.

You could tell when Blake spotted whatever animal was in the exhibit, because he would start yelling, "Doggie! Doggie! Doggie!"
 Giraffe excitement.

The Australian part of the zoo was awesome.  After entering the double gate into the enclosure, kangaroos were just jumping around freely inside.

When we walked into the petting zoo, this was the sight we were met with.  Lazy goats sleeping with their mouths poised and ready for food.

Evelyn obliged....to force Addi to feed it first.

Addi was the biggest goat fan. She was convinced they all loved her since they kept popping out to see if she had food.

After the zoo, we hit the John Deere Pavilion.  Lance has never been inside, and last time we tried to go it was closed for remodeling.

The wait paid off though because they ended up switching out some of the tractors for "feller-bunchers"...tree cutters. Do I even need to say they were Lance's favorite?

This combine was the coolest thing! We've seen them out in the fields harvesting, but have never been up close to one...they are HUGE!  It reminded us of "Frank" from the movie "Cars."

Since the weather was so nice we decided to stay and play a while before going home.  The girls enjoyed seeing their shadows again now that the sunshine is back.

And finally!  I got a picture on the way home...the world's largest truck stop.  It might be one of the last times we drive past it, and we couldn't leave without so solid proof that we'd been there.

We're back!

So, many of you might be wondering whether or not we fell off the face of the earth...well, almost.  After the chicken pox (Blake), primary herpetic gingivostomatitis  (Addi--her mouth was so swollen she didn't eat for three days!), two rounds of stomach flu (everyone except Lance), and one round of a cold...all in the space of six weeks...we are finally coming out of hibernation, and ready to be outside again!

It's hard for me to believe that these pictures were from two consecutive days: one at 35 degrees, and one at 69 degrees!

Freeze tag and bike riding day:

And of course, life wouldn't be complete without Blake who is constantly keeping us on our toes.  He recently learned how to push chairs up to things to get what he wants, making almost everything within his grasp.  I walked in to the kitchen this time and he looked at me with a full mouth and said, "mmmm...nanas!"
