A few weeks ago we were able to take our yearly, week-long trip up to Utah...
The first day we were there we went to BYU campus with my whole family and it just happened to be the opening day of the new Monte L. Bean Life Sciences Museum. All the kids won a free t-shirt from the prize wheel, and they also gave out free bags for them to decorate. It was pretty crowded, but a ton of fun. I used to love going here when I was little.
We walked over the the Creamery for ice cream, and on the way we passed the site of my old freshman dorms - Deseret Towers (Lance also lived there his freshman year). DT doesn't exist anymore, and has been replaced by these enormous, beautiful new buildings. Part of me was sad, but after living there almost 10 years ago, I can attest to how worn down they were - it's definitely a change for the best!

They are also in the process of tearing down Heritage Halls where Lance and I were RA's. There were only three buildings left including my building - Fox Hall. We took advantage of the fact that it was still standing to take a few pictures. This spot where Lance and the kids are sitting is where Lance and I spent countless summer nights sitting and talking to each other, and where we really fell in love. I always loved Fox Hall because it was so close to campus and so close to the scenery of the stream/river/duck pond.
Lance and I locked and unlocked countless building doors when we were RA's, but this is the door and steps where he proposed to me. He still says he owes me big time for proposing in this location, but I was just glad it was still there so we could get a picture!
We stayed and played a little bit at the duck pond, and tried to feed the ducks the crumbs that we had with us. I went a little overboard with the camera, but that's what happens when there is good light and nostalgia. :)
I would love it if someday she got to come here to this very spot, but as a student!
We also celebrated Addi's birthday in Utah, and for whatever reason, she ALWAYS asks for a blue cake! I really don't get why it's tradition, since blue cakes are rarely the most appetizing, but we did what we could and made another "blue cake."

Four out of five of Addi's birthdays have been spent moving, traveling, or doing some other huge event, so this was the first time she's really had any other celebration besides just cake! And what a celebration it was! Grandma and Grandpa took her to the candy store and let her pick out a treat, and then the entire family went to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory! She was extremely spoiled (and of course, she loved it).
Addi got...surprise...school stuff for her birthday! A backpack, supplies, and a lunch box. She was so excited. I can't believe Kindergarten is just a month away for her!
The kids' favorite activity by far in Utah was jumping on the trampoline. The weather was perfect, and if we were at my parents house, you could count on all three of them being outside on the trampoline.
Happy 5th Birthday Adelle! We love our spunky, courageous, sweet, snuggly, beautiful, and happy girl!
