Last week Addi gave herself a haircut. Lance and I realized Addi and Blake were being just a bit too quiet in the other room and ran over to find that Addi had chopped off several sections of her hair and of Blake's hair. As soon as Addi saw her hair in the mirror she started bawling. She has been waiting for so long for her hair to grow long, and just barely got it so long that it was to the middle of her back. Several of the pieces she cut were more than 2-3 inches. Luckily, most of the pieces are on the bottom half of her hair since I had put her hair half-up, but to blend in all the chunks that were missing required a shoulder-length cut. Needless to say, it was extremely heartbreaking to watch how truly sad she was about her hair.
post cut/fix. This was the face she gave me when I asked her to smile. She has since cheered up a bit and is convinced that her hair is making great growth progress every day.
The next day Evie started 1st grade. She had been counting down for a few weeks and LOVES everything about her new class. She also has many detailed plans about what she's going to do if she sees any Kindergarteners in distress (help them find their classroom, help them know who their teacher is, help them if they're hurt, help them in the lunchroom, help them feel happy on the bus...). She hasn't found any yet, but I know we will hear about it if and when she finds any. We are also loving the new bus stop right outside of our house, wahoo! No school pick-up or drop-off lines for us!
