Utah

This pregnancy, most of my "morning sickness" occurs from about 1am-4am, meaning wake up, throw up for three hours, go back to bed. Luckily for me the past few weeks have been getting better with the Zofran, meaning 1am-4am is more just feeling sick and less of throwing up which is a HUGE improvement...one that I am unbelievably grateful for!!! However, since I am up and unable to sleep during that time I'll try to catch up at least a little on our poor neglected blog. Our trip to Utah in May/June:

We started our drive on Evelyn's birthday and drove through the night. Evelyn was more than willing to wait and celebrate in Utah the day after her birthday, rather than celebrate in the car. When we arrived in the morning she was thrilled that everyone was coming over that afternoon to celebrate...including two sets of great-grandparents! She is definitely one lucky girl. We also decided to just have Addi celebrate her birthday as well considering everyone had brought presents for her too!

Only a few hours in Utah and already Blake and Addi have already begun candy consumption

One evening we took a walk along the Murdock Canal, a trail I walked many many times trying to induce labor when I was pregnant with Evelyn. It was so nice to walk outside in a place that wasn't boiling hot! I just love love love how beautiful Utah is, and this trip really made me homesick. In fact, as we were in the car ready to get out, I said to Lance, "Don't you think we could just move back here after residency is over? I mean, I'm sure we could find somewhere that isn't oversaturated with oral surgeons...?" Immediately, as if on cue, a huge bus drove by covered in an advertisement for "Wisdom Teeth Only"...darn it! I know it's not possible, but it would really be nice if a bunch of Utah oral surgeons would decide to retire in the next few years!

Evelyn convinced my Grandpa Taylor and Grandpa Nuttall (her great-grandpas, and master fishermen) to take her fishing out on the boat. She went with them, Lance, Lane, and Matthew to Strawberry Reservoir, and they only caught one fish all day, but she loved every minute. Unfortunately Lance didn't have his phone and they weren't able to take any pictures!

We were also able to visit my Grandma and Grandpa Loftus (more great-grandparents!) and Addi LOVED spending time with my Grandpa Loftus and still talks about him.

Timpanogos Caves. Blake and Evelyn loved it. Addi hated it. Blake kept saying "COOL! AWESOME! Look at that Dad! We're in a CAVE!" and meanwhile Addi was whimpering because she was so scared. It didn't help that someone said they saw a rock that looked like a dinosaur, oh boy...

one of many fires in the fire pit...not sure what the face is about...
We went swimming at my uncle and aunt's house and the kids loved it...except for Evelyn, who was almost phobic of the water and was clinging to the side the entire time (update on her swimming progress coming in another post). Blake can't seem to get enough of the water and is so brave that it scares me. He went down the slide all by himself several times and loves to play "orcas and dolphins" in the pool with anyone that will play. He also loves to jump into the pool and then comes up out of the water every time with a huge grin on his face. I don't know if it's a boy thing or a Blake thing but, for a two year old, he has no fear of crazy things.

Lance, Emily, and Matthew went on a "run" one morning and after they were gone for about 7 hours, we realized that even a long run would have them back by that time. We tried calling their phones, got no answer, then went and searched up the trail where they had gone and saw the car still parked there. Just as we were ready to call 911, they called us on someone's cell phone and had gotten lost up the mountain in a remote spot and had finally found their way down. They were dehydrated, sunburned, had cuts all over them, and were extremely tired from spending nine hours in the sun with only 3 water bottles between them. And...lucky them, we had family pictures one hour later. They were miserable the whole time, but such good sports to try and act like they weren't in extreme pain for family pictures. Ha, I think my mom would have made sure they were in extreme pain if they had tried to skip family pictures, so it was probably a good choice on their part.

We didn't have nearly enough time in Utah. We are already looking forward to next Summer!
