The Keyes Family: Halloween and Other Happenings

October has been a crazy busy month for us. As soon as we got home from Washington, things really took off. Lance has been on-call a TON this month, which means we've seen very little of him. Cram in an anniversary, birthday, Halloween parties, Trunk-or-treat, trick-or-treating, field trips, playdates...it was oh so fun, and oh so packed.

Lucy is 10 months old now and such a little doll. She loves to flirt with everyone when we go out, and has turned into such an easy baby (after the first few months I wasn't sure...). She's just starting to get into the stage where she is EVERYWHERE, and she loves playing with Blake, who is an awesome big brother. I'm not sure what we'll do when he goes to kindergarten next year!

Our elementary school starts so so so early in the morning. Which means early mornings at the bus stop. Sometimes those early mornings are worth it when we get to see skies like this! Arizona really does have the best sunrises/sunsets!

For my birthday, Lance surprised me by taking me to the Arizona State Fair. We rode some rides, ate some food, saw some animals...the whole fair experience. We even went as far as to get deep fried cheese curds, which were good, but sadly they were not as good as we had at the Iowa State Fair!

We went on the highest ferris wheel...it was honestly a little scary.

I had no idea there was even such a thing as racing lemurs, but apparently we missed the "world's first" racing lemur race by only a few minutes. You never know what you're going to find at the fair...

We've also been enjoying the "cooler" (80-90 degree) weather, and it finally feels good to be outside and not be getting scorched. We spent part of an evening in Scottsdale walking through a little outdoor mall/park/play area which was really fun.

Evelyn lost her tooth on the school bus last week, and it was big news for the rest of the day. She came running off the bus with tooth in hand and smiling at me. Bring on the awkward smile stage!

Trunk or Treat

Lance was supposed to be in charge of orchestrating the trunk-or-treat for our ward, and after having several emergencies at work, getting there late, and not having time to pick up the drink cooler, he was a bit nervous about how it would all turn out, but everyone stepped up to help out and it went really well! Our ward usually has a chili cook off, carnival games, and then the trunk-or-treat.

Lance and one of his counselors thought up this game for the Elder's Quorum carnival station:

eyeballs (ping pong balls) on golf tees, with water guns to squirt them off. It was a hit

And of course Halloween...

In the morning, the kids and I went to get free kids pancakes at IHOP with some friends. They loved it.

This year we had an Elsa & Anna costumes from the movie "Frozen" and then a beetle and ladybug

I think these two honestly wish they were Elsa and Anna. This was the first year that either of them have actually requested to be anything...and they requested it in March! They each got the dress for their summer birthdays and and have worn them to dress up, but have been dying to wear them together trick-or-treating!
