Lance is going on General Surgery/Trauma rotation for the next four months, so he won't be able to take one of his remaining two vacation weeks off until June. Well, this left us with one option: take a vacation week in January or lose a vacation week for this year (vacation weeks reset in July). We took the vacation week! It was last minute, and our pediatrician was adamant that we were not supposed to take Lucy out until she was at LEAST six week old (due to a terrible flu/RSV season), so we just drove to Utah and basically stayed around my parents house. It was so nice to just have a relaxing week of nothing!
The kids loved the snow even though it hadn't snowed for weeks and was basically all melted and crunchy. I don't think they've really played in snow since we moved from Iowa two years ago!
In this picture, Addi had just put some snow down Evelyn's back and thought it was the funniest thing of all time. She was so proud of herself.
As soon as she found out we were coming up (only two days in advance!), my mom bought a groupon deal to Soldier Hollow to go tubing. We haven't been for a few years (since Evelyn was about 8 months old) and it was so much fun! My mom stayed at home with Lucy, and everyone else took off to Heber.
I only took a few pictures with my camera before heading up the hill, and then opted to take pictures with my phone the rest of the time. There was no way I was going to tube with my camera!
Addi was probably the biggest fan of tubing and you could count on her to scream with delight all the way down the hill every time.
Evelyn and Addi decided to do a run going down with only the two of them, it was so cute watching them plan it out. ("Ok, just me and you ok?" "Okay, this is going to be SO fun!")
We loved the lifts so we didn't have to walk up the hill every time!
Some beautiful snowy views!
And finally, the video we took of Lance, Evelyn, Addi, and me all going down together (Blake was with Matthew). Lance convinced Evelyn to try tubing on her stomach, and I'm not sure whether she was having tons of fun or she was scared for her life.
